The Sunday Telegraph
“‘For sheer beauty of tone and expressive nostalgia, Tasmin Little and Sir Andrew Davis outElgar their rivals. ”
Michael Kennedy

Elgar Society Journal (April 2011)
“…this new recording fully bears out her [Little’s] love and total empathy with the music. It is a magnificent performance, of the very highest quality, and the recorded sound is, I am certain, the finest this Concerto has ever had on disc. In penetrating and deeply moving playing, she is wonderfully accompanied by this great orchestra and conductor, making this issue – so far as I am concerned – the first choice today…” “… a disc that has clearly been planned with considerable care: it is a magnificent achievement all round.” Robert Matthew-Walker

Sunday Times (28 November 2010)
“…She [Tasmin Little] has waited 20 years before making this recording, and she has a triumph. Playing with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra under Elgarian Andrew Davis, she gives a dynamic performance, wistful in the second, and again achieving sad nostalgia for lost love which Elgar brngs to the final cadenza of the latest movement.” Peter Spaull

Musica (March 2011)
“…And so to the concerto itself. In a word stunning.” “…Tasmin Little brings a classical feel to it- its distant roots in Beethovens concerto are ever present and she always has her emotions under control. That is far from saying that her playing of the music is not emotional, rather that head and heart are in immaculate balance in this interpretation. Andrew Davis and the orchestra match her in thought, word and deed every step of the way. Whatever favourites you may have in your collection, this will without question enhance it. Don’t hold back!” Martin Bird

Musical Opinion (January/February 2011)
“Little tantalizes with a winning combination of heartfelt passion and engaging simplicity that radiates beguiling warmth.” ***** Julian Haylock

***** Listener's Review
I just wanted to convey my thanks and appreciation for the recent Tamasin Little version of the Elgar Violin Concerto. Everything about this disc is admirable: wonderful solo work from Ms.Little, wonderful conducting and orchestral playing and all captured in a wonderfully engineered recording.

The Elgar is my favourite violin concerto; I have at least ten other recordings. This release by Tasmin Little and Andrew Davis has gone straight to the top of my list.
Many, many thanks to everyone involved. J Hickman

The Daily Telegraph (4 March 2009)
“Variety is the keyword here. Little's directness is at times heightened by the bright recorded sound, but her passionate spirit is winning and the collaboration with John Lenehan companionable.”
BBC Music Magazine (April 2009)
“Little and Lenehan play with captivating warmth and joie de vivre throughout. …a richly enjoyable recital that deserves every success.”

GRAMOPHONE (May 2009)
“Little uses two different violins: a Guadagnini and a Stradivarius. They both sound marvellous; but… it is the calibre of the playing itself that creates beauty of timbre.”

BBC Music Magazine (April 2008)
Virtuoso Tasmin Little's website is good-looking, well laid out, and helpful if you're new to downloading music files. You can sample its individual tracks or pieces on your computer before burning a high quality CD, and Little provides an extra 25 minutes of commentary for novices, more experienced listeners, and teachers. Her aim is to show off the versatility of the unaccompanied violin, and encourage those who would never buy a classical CD to give it a listen -

'.People are comfortable with their computers,' she says. 'Online, you might try something you'd never dream of doing anywhere else...' The recording has a nice bloom, and the pieces are all played in a full-blooded, engaged style - you can imagine them like this in a concert, odd rough edge and all. Her Bach has vigour in the rhythms and phrasing, and doesn't sit down or become indulgent. In Paul Patterson's Variations she shows off her command of various string techniques without losing sight of the musical argument, and the Ysaÿe is alternately warm and impetuous. An experiment which deserves a wide uptake.

Information from Gramophone

Tasmin received the 2008 Classic FM Award for Audience Innovation for the Naked Violin project.

She wrote:
I was surprised and completely delighted to hear that I have been chosen to receive the Classic FM Award for Audience Innovation for my project The Naked Violin. The response to my download, both internationally and in the UK, was overwhelming; and this, plus the South Bank Show television programme about my project, has proved to me that classical music is as vital a part of our lives today as it has ever been.

I have a few brief, but heartfelt Thank Yous:
First of all, to John West and Limo Hearn, who produced and engineered The Naked Violin.
To Horst Kolo, my brilliant and tireless webmaster and to IFDNRG who host my site.
To Shona Galletly, who did a superb job publicising the download.
And to Sinead O'Carroll my project co-ordinator, and Denise Kantor, my PA.
Thank you so much to Classic FM and to Gramophone Magazine for this huge honour.

Showcasing violinist Tasmin Little's impressive versatility, these recordings highlight her sensitivity to both orchestral and chamber works. From the lyricism and blues-inspired melodies of Ravel's Violin Sonata to the impassioned melodies of Delius's Double Concerto, Little's playing breathes life into every aspect of the music.

This collection of recordings illuminates two different sides of violinist Tasmin Little's accomplished playing. While the Brahms and Sibelius Concertos are a testament to her technical skill and breadth of expression, the Pärt works display a more pared-back approach, making full use of Little's pure and resonant tone.

Tasmin Little's formidable technical ability and gift for interpretation are unmistakable in this collection of showpieces. Displaying her brilliant virtuosity and captivating lyricism, and including her own witty Tchaikovskiana, written in collaboration with John Lenehan, these works highlight Little's breathtaking skill as a performer.
